Summer Camp

Job Title:                     Camp and Community Programs Coordinator

Reports to:                 Administrative Coordinator


  • Assist the Camp Coordinator and Childcare Management staff to plan and administer the QVCC summer camp program
  • Assist in providing information and support to parents of children attending the camp
  • Work in conjunction with the Administrative Coordinator and Community Programs Coordinator to assist with the Community Support Program and Recreation/Facility Inquiries

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete QVCC related administrative tasks that contribute to the quality of experience for people from all backgrounds
  • Maintain accurate registration records, and provide regular verbal and written activity and statistical reports on the summer camp program and participation
  • Help foster a supportive, inclusive, LGTBQ positive and culturally sensitive environment that is welcoming to children, families, seniors and other individuals
  • Assist with providing information and referral services, free services, and volunteer mentoring for the community support programs
  • Respond to general inquiries by phone and in person regarding QVCC, and to share in the work of maintaining a neighbourhood centre
  • Assist with recreation and facility inquiries
  • Participate in community events
  • Cover relief in Reception and for the Community Programs Coordinator
  • To be familiar with and implement QVCC’s policies, procedures and practices
  • Perform other related duties when required and approved by the Administrative Coordinator or Executive Director


  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability in, and sensitivity and commitment to working with diverse populations
  • Ability to work productively in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions
  • Capable of working independently
  • Able to create innovative solutions

Education and Experience:   

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline such as Health Management, Business Administration, Education, Child & Youth Care, Social Work, or Recreation Management,
  • Established experience transferable to non-profit management, systems and administration
  • First Aid and CPR Certified is preferred

Desirable Attributes and Skills:

  • Strong people and community engagement skills
  • Proficient in basic computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and Internet usage
  • Record keeping, organization, analytical and planning skills

Hours of Work:          

  • 40 Hours per week
  • Position to include two weeks of part-time hours for training and orientation, commencing June 18th, followed by 9 weeks of Full-Time work with a completion date of August 31st

Salary:  $ 17.20   per hour

* Applicants for this position must be a full time post-secondary student returning to a post-secondary program in September
